Video installation
6 Kvevri jar necks, 3 video screens and viticulture tools
Variable dimensions
The installation puts time into perspective and reorients our perception of this ancestral storage and fermentation wine jar, towards its most sacred aspects, as a key ingredient in the celebration of rites of passage.
The intention was to create a space petrified and suspended in time. Inanimate and timeless, the installation invokes the deepest parts of the earth: The jar necks, springing out of the soil like volcanic craters, secure the wine’s underground fermentation process. The Marani jars are the gestation container of this universal drink relentlessly produced by man for well over 8.000 years.
